Prestige is a system in Unnamed Space Idle and the first reset-layer. Here, players can reset most things in order to change equipment, and activate certain boosts. The following things happen at a prestige:

  • Core equipment, Compute levels, Resources, Synth materials (except infinites) and modules, Crew members and levels, as well as Biosleeves, get reset
  • Newly bought base slots will be unlocked
  • Base bonuses from components get activated
  • Used Retrofits get restored (except those from Extra Retrofits)

Starting from base 1, the last upgrade of each base enables players to start from that sector, instead of sector 1.

Core Selection[edit | edit source]

The main purpose of prestiging is switching equipped cores. On the Prestige screen, players can select weapons, shields and utility for their selected ship, as well as their tier.

Ship Selection[edit | edit source]

Before selecting cores, players can select their desired ship to use after the prestige. There are currently 5 normal ships:

Design Name Unlocked at Weapon Slots Shield Slots Utility Slots Zoom-Out
Ship Basic.png Basic 1 1 1 0 1
Ship Frigate.png Frigate 4 2 1 1 1
Ship Cruiser.png Cruiser 12 3 2 1 1.2
Ship HeavyCruiser.png Heavy Cruiser 24 4 2 2 1.5
Ship Destroyer.png Destroyer 41 6 3 2 1.6

Retrofits[edit | edit source]

Retrofits are a way to swap equipment without having to prestige. There are 2 that are unlocked from Synth, 4 from bases (1 from each), and 1 from reinforcing. When prestiging, all used retrofits get restored with the exception of those granted by using an Extra Retrofit. Using a retrofit will only swap the selected cores and won't reset anything, nor will it grant any base bonuses, but they will reset core levels. Retrofits are available below the starting sector dropdown. After reinforcing 3 times, retrofits will also refund spent data cores.

Retrofit Recuperation[edit | edit source]

After getting the third upgrade from base 3, retrofits will grant 25% of all resources spent on cores before the retrofit. Once in a capital ship, this increases to 100%, meaning retrofits can be used to swap cores without any loss of resources.

Unlocks[edit | edit source]

Unlocks need to be activated on the prestige screen. There is a loading-bar at the top, which shows the progress to the next unlock in distance, as well as the name of the respective unlock. Once reached, the button next to it can be pressed in order to activate it.

Skins[edit | edit source]

Skins can be used in order to customize the cosmetics of the ship. There are currently 7 skins available, and they all apply to each ship:

Design Name Unlock requirement
Ship Basic.png Default Unlocked by default
Skin Blue.png Blue Accumulate 4000 AI Points
Skin Green.png Green Base(ic) Green achievement
Skin Steampunk.png Steampunk Buy the Steampunk cosmetic bundle under AI -> Purchase
Skin Speedster.png Speedster Final speedrun achievement
Spacemas Basic.gif Spacemas Gain 150 Giftium during the Spacemas event
Skin Spaceversary.png Spaceversary Gain 150 Yearium during the Spaceversary event

There are also different UI themes that can be selected, which recolor the entire interface of the game. Asides from the default theme, the only other one is the Steampunk theme which gets unlocked when buying the Steampunk cosmetics bundle.
